These are a few of my favorite things

I have a bit of an obsessive personality, especially when it comes to things I like. I am a pretty picky person, but when I find something I like, I stick with it exclusively. I think that it is hereditary. My mom saw that I liked to paint my toenails, so for every birthday, Christmas, special occasion, she would give me tons of nail polish. Now I have a shoe box full of it...and I hardly use it anymore:) I can feel the same way about foods. I went through a baked potato phase a few years ago...I ate them every day for dinner for about a week. I could eat the same things for a long period of time if I really like it. Right now, I have a few things that I love. I will replace them the moment that I run out of them and there are some foods that I could eat every day.

Pink from Victoria's Secret
I love this body spray. It is very light and fresh. It is a nice change from a heavy perfume. Shout out to Anna for introducing me to it!

Yummy!
I have never enjoyed marinara sauce at all. I want to like it. I love all of the things in it...tomatoes, garlic, herbs. I always try marinara when someone else eats it, but I have never liked it. My husband loves chicken parmesan and he wanted me to make it, so I tried this sauce and I loved it. Since then I have used this sauce exclusively.

Yogurt and granola
This is one of those things that I eat everyday. Sometimes I have it for breakfast, sometimes for a snack. EVERY day. I really like Special K granola with vanilla yogurt. Yum!

Earplugs!
I married a man who snores. I can sleep through it, but only if I am asleep first. If he falls asleep and starts snoring, I can't sleep. When I am up and I hear him snore, I become completely irrational. I elbow him, "accidentally" wake him up, and think about smothering him with a pillow! Fortunately, my mother-in-law has been through the same thing with my father-in-law and she gave me a pair of earplugs. They changed my life. I would get so mad at myself for getting mad at him for snoring. Now, I put in my earplugs and I get better sleep than ever. They have made me so much happier and I think my husband is much happier too. He gets better sleep too:)

'Fro tamer!
This is one of my favorite hair products ever! I have extremely thick hair that is wavy/curly/crazy. This is the best thing I have found in such a long time. It is like a cross between a cream and a gel. (see, it's called a cream-gel) It doesn't make my hair stiff like a gel can, but it is better than a mousse. It leaves my hair soft and frizz-free. It is faboo!

Love these cleaning supplies!
If you haven't tried Method cleaning products, put it on your list of things to do. It is all natural, freshly scented, and very reasonably priced. The multi-surface cleaner is my favorite, but I also like the window cleaner and the wood cleaner. The multi-surface cleaner is grapefruit scented, window cleaner is mint, and the wood cleaner is almond.

Marimekko coinpurse
This is not the exact one that I have, but it is similar. My husband has a cousin who lives in Finland and when he and his wife came to visit, they brought me one of these. I LOVE it! It is too large for a "coin" purse, but I keep some lip glosses in it in my purse. I recently browsed their website and I am in love with the fabrics. I want to use them throughout my house! So cute!

These are just a few of the things that I am currently obsessed with. What things do you love right now?

Ever see Monk?

Have you ever watched the TV show Monk? My husband and I recently started watching it on Netflix and after the first episode I was hooked. If you haven't seen it, it is about a former detective with some serious OCD, who uses his unique eccentricities to solve cases for the police department. I love it! I have some of my own OCD issues, everyone does, I am sure. But, as we watch it, Monk will do something totally ridiculous awesome, and I can feel my husband glaring at me. Apparently, Monk and I are kindred spirits. So, today, for your enjoyment, I will give you some of the things that make me a freak unique individual:)

  • I count everything-Steps and stairs are my main ones. There are 11 steps up to our house. I count them every time I go up or down them. There are 15 steps up to my mom's house. There are 5 steps up into the church, then 3 more. See what I mean? The other day I caught myself counting the number of steps that I took to get to the bathroom from my classroom. And then I had to finish counting. There were 77:)
  • I like even numbers. If I choose to count something, I like the numbers to be even. If they are, I can move on. If the number is odd, I like to find the center of whatever it is. The beams in the ceiling, the blocks on the wall, the rings on the shower curtain.
  • I HATE germs! I wouldn't go so far as to call myself a germophobe, but I am getting close. I obsess over germs. I over think everything. I worry about what I touch. I don't touch anything in the bathroom that I don't have to. I avoid public restrooms at all costs. Don't tell anyone, but I have never used the restroom at our church because I have such a fear of public restrooms.
  • I refuse to eat pointy French fries. This is one that benefits my husband. He gets all of my fries that I don't eat. I don't know why I don't like them, but I refuse to eat them if they are pointy or crunchy.
  • I step on the lines. You know those lines at Wal-mart in the parking lot? I must step on all of them! And I like to align my steps so that I can step on the cracks of the sidewalk too.
  • I have food issues too.  I don't like for my food to touch on my plate. I also don't like to eat a few bites of one thing and then eat something of another. I eat all of one thing and then I move on to the next.
  • I have a routine for everything. The way I shower, hair first, face last. The way I clean, bedroom first, dining room last. Before I go to bed I put lotion on my hands, chap-stick on my lips, and then I drink some water. Every night.
This is just the tip of the iceberg! I am sure that there a a million other things about myself that make me completely unique!

I realize that a post like this is completely abnormal. I also know that this is an invitation for you all to mock me:) Bring it on!

It has been a while

It has been a long time since I last blogged. These last 2 weeks have been incredibly busy! We had a week long revival and then last Saturday my BFF arrived! We have had an amazing week together, catching up, laughing, and driving my husband crazy. You know how when you are away from someone for a while and things get a little awkward when you first talk to them. That SO does not happen with us! Last Saturday, we went to my in-laws to hang out and play games and Karen and I were talking away. When we are together, we talk really, really fast! My father-in-law commented that he knew we were talking, but he couldn't understand anything we were saying.

Then on Wednesday, my former supervisor and friend came to stay with us as well. She, her daughter, and another friend. We spent the afternoon shopping and then they came to church with us. Then all 6 of us crowded into our tiny place for the night. It makes me love my husband even more for putting up with 5 women in his house for the evening!

Karen and I had a fun week together. She came and had lunch with me at my school and met my students.  We stayed up late talking and enjoyed just hanging out. Then yesterday I left school early and we drove to the beach. She and I spent time just sitting on the beach talking and catching up. It was so relaxing! I love the sound of the water and the wind. It was a good time. After a good dinner, we came home.

Sadly, this morning she had to go back home. I hate when she has to leave, but it is so good to know that when we do have a chance to hang out, that it is just like the old days. I am so thankful to have such a good friend.

I am also so glad to have a husband who will let me hang out with my friends all week. He's a good guy!

It says, "I love Juan" I wrote it with my monkey toes:)
